SURGE: THE VEGAN REVOLUTION
SOCIAL JUSTICE HISTORICALLY HAS ONLY EVER BEEN CONCERNED WITH THE WELLBEING OF HUMAN ANIMALS, YET NON-HUMAN ANIMALS ARE THE MOST OPPRESSED AND ABUSED BEINGS ON EARTH, EXISTING IN THE BILLIONS, THEIR SUFFERING UNIMAGINABLE.
Surge is an activism organisation determined to create a world where compassion towards non-human animals is the norm. Our aim is to spread awareness, educate the public and assert a peaceful stance against animal exploitation. Surge approaches animal rights activism by tapping into the attitudes of contemporary society, creating well-orchestrated demonstrations, outreach events, stunts, films and online campaigns that resonate with the general public.
Surge asserts that for too long animals have been persecuted and devalued, treated as objects for human use and the time has come to progress. Animals are here with us, not for us and until this realisation is understood Surge will be the voice for those that are ignored.
THE OFFICIAL ANIMAL RIGHTS MARCH
In 2016 Surge hosted the first Official Animal Rights March where 2,500 vegans marched through London demanding an end to all animal oppression - and now, with great excitement we are heading towards the date of the 2017 Official Animal Rights March, with support from The Save Movement and HeartCure Collective.
LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY
In 2005, a film called Earthlings became the most pivotal documentary of the animal rights movement. Here in the UK however, Surge found the phrase "that doesn't happen in our country" coming up far too much. Surge wanted to set the record straight. Through our documentary Land of Hope and Glory we aim to show the truth behind UK land animal farming by featuring the most up to date investigations as well as never before seen undercover footage, with a total of approximately 100 UK facilities featured throughout the film.
