SURGE: THE VEGAN REVOLUTION
SOCIAL JUSTICE HISTORICALLY HAS ONLY EVER BEEN CONCERNED WITH THE WELLBEING OF HUMAN ANIMALS, YET NON-HUMAN ANIMALS ARE THE MOST OPPRESSED AND ABUSED BEINGS ON EARTH, EXISTING IN THE BILLIONS, THEIR SUFFERING UNIMAGINABLE.
Surge is an activism organisation determined to create a world where compassion towards all non-human animals is the norm. Our aim is to spread awareness, educate the public and assert a peaceful stance against animal exploitation. Surge approaches animal rights activism through well-orchestrated demonstrations, outreach events, films and online campaigns with a focus on positive community building.
Surge asserts that for too long animals have been persecuted and devalued, treated as objects for human use and the time has come to progress. Animals are here with us, not for us and until this realisation is understood Surge will be the voice for those that are ignored.
THE OFFICIAL ANIMAL RIGHTS MARCH
The Official Animal Rights March is an annual march founded by Surge. The purpose of the march is to unite the vegan community globally and to inspire vegans to become active. The march began in London in 2016 with 2,500 vegans and in 2017 the march doubled to 5,000 vegans marching for animal liberation through the streets of London. In 2017 the march also went global, with New York succeeding in 3,000 vegan attendees alongside LA, Miami, Bucharest, and Cluj-Napoca also hosting successful marches.
In 2018 we're looking to take the march even further, so get in touch with us if you want to host a march in a major city near you. We'll provide you all of the resources and support you need to make it happen.
LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY
In 2005, a film called Earthlings became the most pivotal documentary of the animal rights movement. Here in the UK however, Surge found the phrase "that doesn't happen in our country" coming up far too much. We wanted to set the record straight. Through our documentary Land of Hope and Glory we aim to show the truth behind UK land animal farming by featuring the most up to date investigations as well as never before seen undercover footage, with a total of approximately 100 UK facilities featured throughout the film.
THE BIG VEGAN ACTIVISM VAN
The Big Vegan Activism Van is a moving activism project. Our mission is to visit as many education establishments in the UK as possible, providing vegan education and outreach to students.
Our day of education consists of a full day of on-campus outreach with a virtual reality headset station, followed by an evening screening of our documentary Land of Hope and Glory and a speech by Surge co-founder Ed Winters (Earthling Ed). To encourage non-vegans to come to the screening and speech, we will be giving out free vegan pizza to all attendees.
If you want us to come to your university then simply get in touch and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Please sign up to our supporter database. We will only ever use your email for Surge related events and updates.
